Re: New Part: 41530 Propellor 8 Blade 5 Diameter

(...) Or, make the sub-part be half of a blade, and reference it 16 times. (...) The axle-hole area could probably be replaced with one or more primitives. I'd have to compare this part to the existing axlehole primitives to be sure. (...) I totally (...) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: 41530 Propellor 8 Blade 5 Diameter

(...) It looks like you can't post DAT files in FTX mode; you have to use Plain Text, as the file is still scrambled. As for the part itself, you definitely want to create sub-part for a single blade, and then reference that sub-part 8 times in the (...) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

  Re: Art of Illusion

(...) Any news in this matter? I have been using AOI for a few years now and it's now a very nice and competent software, latest version 2.2 is impressive. :) A good and growing AOI forum: (URL) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDraw.org MOTM/SOTM Relaunch

(...) Thanks that's fixed now. I had to enter all the winners in to the database by hand so I expect a few mistakes that lead to broken images. -Orion (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Exporting Minifig to Maya - edgy model

(...) Sorry for the smartypants non-answer, but you'd probably find it easier going to just model the minifg in Maya to begin with. I think someone even had a tutorial on how to do this somewhere, though I can't remember the link offhand. Maybe it (...) (19 years ago, 30-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

New Part: 41530 Propellor 8 Blade 5 Diameter  [DAT]

This is a cool little part that can work as an escape wheel for a clock. I wanted a dat file for it, but nobody seems to have made one, so I made my own. This is my first try at making a dat part, so please let me know if I made some mistakes. (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Exporting Minifig to Maya - edgy model

(...) It's certainly theoretically possible to convert much of the geometry with high polygon counts. LDraw primitives are such that a smart converter can use aribtrary complexity for cylinders, spheres, tori, etc. Having said that, it doesn't sound (...)   Exporting Minifig to Maya - edgy model

Hey, I've been stuck with this problem for a while, so now I've come here for a discussion. It's quite simple actually, but I must say that I'm fairly new in the 3d world so I might have missed something crucial here. 1. I've made a simple minifig (...)   Re: LDraw.org MOTM/SOTM Relaunch

(...) Yep, looks good. I did notice that the January 2000 MOTM entry has a broken link for its actual image while browsing, but all the others I looked at worked fine. --Travis (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Finding a rotation matrix for a triangle

(...) You take the cross product of two of the sides of the triangle, this will give the vector perpendicular to the triangle plane: (URL) will point either upwars or downwards. Unless your triangle is in a known winding state there's no way to (...) (19 years ago, 28-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDraw.org MOTM/SOTM Relaunch

(...) Yeah, I think so as well. I had a problems with this on other similar pages. (...) Yes, it was first implemented for the March 2004 contest. (...)   Re: LDraw.org MOTM/SOTM Relaunch

I get the same error when I try to click on the voting page: (URL) It might dissapear when some entries are added...   Re: Finding a rotation matrix for a triangle

(...) Hi Niels, There isn't really a meaningful way to get an angle out of a plane defined by three points. What would the angle mean? The xyz, angle formula in MLCad just says rotate the vector angle degrees around the vector xyz but in the case of (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Finding a rotation matrix for a triangle

(...) Heh, probably ;-) Well, perhaps I got the math part, and definition process a bit mixed up: I'd just like to have a program that, from a three coordinates on a plane, can give me a rotation vector+angle that I can enter in MLCad... And I'm a (...) (19 years ago, 29-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Finding a rotation matrix for a triangle

Re: Finding a rotation matrix for a triangle

What I mean is: In MLCad, you can take a part, and rotate it via a vector command like turn 45 degrees around y axis clockwise. Or more complex rotations based on more axes. What I would like to know is: How do I find the rotation vector of a plane (...) (19 years ago, 28-Nov-05, to lugnet.cad)
