Hello, I was wondering if there is a dat to autoCAD converter? I'm not useing autoCAD,its InteliCAD, but the file format is the same. Thanks Gary Blessing (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad)

  part 30183 and 30283

I was just looking at part 30283 (a real one). Apparently there is a dat file, but it has not yet propagated to partsref. This message (URL) gives a name for 30283 of 'Slope Brick 45 6 x 4 Double Inverted' partsref lists the name for <part:30183> as (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Dice

Nice construction! I didn't believe it was possible to build this in lego but it is !!! Unfortunatly we don't posses enough of these 2x2 round tiles to build it in real life, but I'm replacing them with square tiles, and that works too!!! thank you (...)   Re: VB programming

(...) I can send you some VB code showing use of the API calls for Polygons to render wireframes and filled polygons, and I also have code to read triangles/quads from a DAT file to render, but only in one plane (I wrote it to run checks on vertex (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 2x4 Brick Renders

(...) Yeah, I left out the rounded edges, the very shallow 90 degree cut-out on bottom of the inside wall, some horizontal raised ridges on the inside wall, and the four convex bulges on the inside walls of the tubes. The latter three were merely (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: 2x4 Brick Renders

(...) Wow! Very cool. :) One detail you did leave out, although I haven't measure its size, is the rounded edges of the bricks (studs should be even more rounded than the rest of the brick). It's a pain to add, but it would add a lot to the (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: 2x4 Brick Renders

Thanks for all the great comments (in both discussion and private email). I had not anticipated such a positive response. I've set up a thumbnail index for the scenes, which I will upload via ftp after I finish rendering my latest scene, a single (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.general)

Re: Automatic Part Selection Query (Part 2)

It's not a matter of knowing the program. I was just trying to find a solution within the standard DAT/MPD format. :) Steve (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: ldglite version 0.8.0

(...) It's a 400MHz Pentium II with Matrox G200 video card. At the time, I was running Linux 2.2 and X Windows 3.x. I don't think this combo did any hardware acceleration. When using anti aliasing, I didn't notice any performance drop at all. It was (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad)

  VB programming

Does anyone have any program examples of reading a .DAT file and displaying it on the screen using Visual Basic? Royce (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: 2x4 Brick Renders

(...) I think that what you have done is just plain jaw-dropping *cool*, Micah! You folks who render LEGO in CAD are doing the neatest things! I am so not computer-savvy and am greatly impressed with the images which can be generated. Although (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.general)

  Re: ldglite version 0.8.0

(...) What platform have you used the antialiasing on? My linux test box only has a 256 color unaccelerated video card. The performance goes from poor to unacceptable when I try to antialias on it. Meanwhile the software only opengl driver for (...) (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldglite version 0.8.0

  Re: 2x4 Brick Renders

(...) Sure, no problem. I'll have to mess with it some though, since all of the luminousity comes from the white background. (24 years ago, 19-Mar-01, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.general)

Hey Brett, Great job on the model. I know it's been a while since you posted this, but I just got it :). Do you have the tires yet? I attatched the dat if you don't.   Re: 2x4 Brick Renders

VERY cool. I don't suppose you'd consider redoing them with a black background? ;-) It would take a bit of work choosing the right colors to still have all the details, but I HATE white backgrounds on my desktop ;-) (...) ***(URL) Visual FAQ home (...)
