  .dat files for legos

Does anyone know if there is a place either on lugnet or the web where the building instructions (in .dat format) for all or most of the lego sets that lego has made and we have on the lugnet set search are? Has anyone undertaken this project? (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: DAT to GIF/JPG/EPS

(...) The code at sgi has an option to sort them by depth. It's not perfect though, and it uses a lot of memory since you have to push ALL the triangles through the feedback buffer before you sort. That's a lot of triangles and postscript is quite (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: L3P v1.3 20010120

First off thanks for the great utility... Is anyone else having trouble using this? Maybe I'm too dumb to figure all the text out... I have downloaded V1.3 and have downloaded the LGEO files needed as well but I'm wondeirng where do I put the LGEo (...) (24 years ago, 22-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

  8880 Completed  [DAT]

Well, here it is... the completed .mpd file for the 8880 Supercar. A rendered version can be found at (URL) hand-coded using nothing more than a text editor, my macro scanning and substitution program, l3lab, and a *lot* of algebra. I don't own the (...) Ummm ... that's good news, isn't it? However, my head is spinning already. Could you please re-explain? ;) Primus BuS ComStar LEGO Mechcommander: www.go.to/LegoMC (24 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

  RE: L3P v1.3 20010120

First of all, thanks for the new version! You've really worked hard to make this a wonderful utility! (...) For anyone who plans on making raytraced instructions, may I suggest the following: 1) Uncomment the "orthographic" keyword in the camera {} (...)   L3P v1.3 20010120

As you can read in "The motive to L3P" it was Lutz Uhlmann's LGEO library (or rather its incompleteness) that inspired me to get started in the LDRAW business. It resulted in my L3 (Lego+Ldraw+Lars) project, which has spun off L3P and L3Lab. The (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.ray) !!

  Re: DAT to GIF/JPG/EPS

(...) Where does hidden triangle removal happen in this process? Or do you count on getting them in proper back-to-front order? I'm experimenting with a postscript renderer plug-in since about a week ago. -Erik (24 years ago, 21-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Double side 8 pin plate?

Has anyone heard of a plate that has pins on both sides? My Megabloks has them and I thought lego did as well. Joe (24 years ago, 20-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: DAT to GIF/JPG/EPS

(...) I pasted some code from here (URL) ldglite. It uses the opengl feedback buffer to grab the primitives and dump EPS instead of rendering them onscreen. It's a neat trick, but not the best way to do it. A better way would be to convert parts (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

  The Omega Project

Due t lack of pieces, I am only doing a 'skeleton' version of the Omega-Class Destroyer used by EarthForce. I have finished the foreward section, LMKWYT. Where i screwd up, what is wrong.   Re: DAT to GIF/JPG/EPS

From a DOS command line type: Ldraw -ms parts\1.DAT This takes 1.dat, renders it as a bitmap, and drops 1.bmp in the "bitmaps" folder. I used a large batch file to convert all my dat to bmp so that I could create a catalog in Microsoft Word. Royce (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Has this piece been made yet?

  Re: DAT to GIF/JPG/EPS

(...) I'm pretty sure ldlite 2.0 can render to an arbitrary size BMP image, but then you have to convert it to get GIF or JPG. LDAO can be used to automate the process if you want to do lots of this. I toyed with EPS output in the latest version of (...) (24 years ago, 19-Jan-01, to lugnet.cad)
