(...) That's odd--LDLite crops images to the space actually used. There shouldn't be any white space. Ever, as far as I know. Have you generated images with the resolution set to '(default)' (or don't set resolution at all). With this option, LDLite (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Are you sure about that? It has always been my impression that "long" things face the X direction in LDraw. Take a look at the Car Bases, for example, a majority of them span the X axis. (...) Make sure there's a PARTPROF.PIF file in your LDAO directory. In Explorer, this file will probably show up just PARTPROF, with the type "Shortcut to MS-DOS Program". If you've got the latest version of LDAO, this file should be there. (...) (24 years ago, 5-Jun-00, to lugnet.cad)
