Re: New Moc - Stained Glass Window Mosaic

(...) LOL! Thanks very much Sid, That short form has got me in trouble a few times already.... Mental note to self, take time to spell out "Brick Shelf". Cheers, Janey "Red Brick" (22 years ago, 29-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

"Clear"ly magnificent! Now people know why folks like us love transparent bricks so much. :-) Bravo! Hey... what's in a "BS folder"? :-P (22 years ago, 29-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

(...) A very kind AFOL (that shall remain nameless to protect his identity) that hates pink "donated" them to my collection. I'm glad I found a use for them, and thankful for any bricks that come my way. Janey "Red Brick" (22 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

(...) Apparently you do ;) Very nice work Janey. Now how exactly did you "magically end up" with those trans pink bricks? Enquiring minds want to know! ROSCO (22 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

(...) Wow! I saw the two at Brickfest, but all of them together (thus far) is such a spectacular view! And to know that they're the Provincial flowers on top--that's just pure-D-icing on the cake. Nicely done! Dave K (22 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

New Moc - Stained Glass Window Mosaic

Hello all, A long while back, I was talking to an AFOL about mosaics and he said he had wanted to create one in transparent bricks. I thought, "gee that would be cool", but I don't own *that* many trans bricks. Then magically, I ended up with a pile (...) (...) FYI, you can re-generate the thumbnails in a folder by clicking "Rescan" when viewing the folder. You must be logged in. HTH ROSCO (22 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

(...) The thumbnails in that directory got all screwed up, so I deleted the directory. The mosaics now have their own directory, which they well deserve: (URL) well. Tim Strutt (22 years ago, 26-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

Re: How to mount a LARGE mosaic

(...) To get correct stud spacing you need to leave some room between baseplates anyway. If you don't have any bricks/plates spanning more than 1 baseplate, it isn't a problem, but I'd probably do it anyway, just for my aesthetic gratification :) (...)   Re: How to mount a LARGE mosaic

Ralph, I made a mosaic about that size this year. Here are my suggestions. First, I attached the baseplates to a wood backing (8'x6') using extra strengh liquid nails. I had experimented with it using a smaller baseplate and a piece of wood. After (...) (22 years ago, 23-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

Re: How to mount a LARGE mosaic

(...) Thanks for the suggestoins, Mike, I'll look into a better carpet tape. The real problem was that the mosaic was originally assembled in a cool room and then moved to a storefront for display during the fundraiser. The plates heated up, (...) (22 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

Re: How to mount a LARGE mosaic

(...) Hot glue works well and you can peel it off the baseplates later on but it still has a high sheer strength. If you are not worried about recovering the baseplates later on then I would use a construction adhesive. PL300. Its for securing (...) (22 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

Re: How to mount a LARGE mosaic

(...) How permanent is permanent? If it's REALLY permanent, just glue the baseplates down with a little adhesive. I'm sure there's something out there that sticks to both wood and plastic. Adrian (22 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

How to mount a LARGE mosaic

All, I've got a pretty big (5x8 48 stud baseplate) mosaic that needs to be on permanent display at our local hospital. There is an acrylic panel in front to keep little fingers from prying the 1x1s off, but it reduces the tactile feel :-( Anyways, (...) (22 years ago, 22-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)
