   Hi everyone,

This is the solution I've come up with for warship railing.
I'm eager to hear anyone's suggestions or further ideas; I
intend to cover the whole ship with this stuff, so it's going
to be very part-intensive.  (So anyone who's willing to donate,
or sell ultra-cheaply, the dark grey tiles, straws, or headlight
bits this uses, let me know!):

It works out to the right height, and even though the posts are
a bit chunky, it looks pretty good--it takes the kinks out of the
rails I used last year, fortunately, and I think it will be a lot
more stable if I stagger the straw lengths across the long (~300
   stud) deck lengths.

   all best

LFB (who's waiting on the last 100 megabricks to get this thing
        underway...)

(...) That images is a little bright--can you darken it up a bit? Otherwise, that looks really cool. Since I'm a big fan of apocryphal construction toy materials, I've actually purchased 1/8" styrene stock from the local hobby shop and fed it (...) (...) Indeed it does! (Definitely double rails for me, next time!) (...) (Based on my experiments with double rails... but using SNOT uprights, rather than headlight bricks). I'm not convinced of the overall benefit of this; While it may be (...) (23 years ago, 15-May-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military)

Hmm... the railings look good to me... My big question is: HEAVY CRUISER!?! *ahem* Sorry, that came out a bit abruptly... let's give it another go: HEAVY CRUISER? Some elaboration *please*! Got any specific class in mind yet -- a Baltimore? A (...) (23 years ago, 16-May-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military)

(...) LFB, I've had a very simular idea for handrails on a boat model i've got in the planning stages right now. Glad to see great minds thinking alike! Derek Hawkins (23 years ago, 17-May-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military)

I use a lot of pirate hooks and straw tubing on my train models as this example: (URL) was thinking of doing something similar, but with dark gray tubing, for the Cleveland class cruiser I have on the back burner. A second row of railing could be (...) (23 years ago, 20-May-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.military)
