Yes.  You meet me at the door to Target at 8am on the annointed day, and
we RUN with shopping carts at the ready to the toy aisles.  :)

That was really funny…

"and we RUN with shopping carts at the ready"

You think it's funny to hear?  You should have *seen* it actually
happen last year.  Eric and I ran into each other at the same Target,
same morning, the 75%-off-plus day.  Now, there were lots of other
folks who'd sniffed it out and were there for various other depart-
ments or for other things in Toys.  But Eric and I had our targets
well in mind, we knew where we were going, etc., etc.

And, of course, we've crossed paths in other places too, in a sense.

…and along the way you can set-up obstacles and counter-measures to restrain
your opponent. I suggest the use of a ‘dead-fall’ trap to incapacitate your
rival!      ;)

See, I have the automatic advantage.  I don't have to work all
vacation.  Eric has a day job.  Advantage:  THE ACADEMIC!  Heck,
I beat Larry to these marks when I'm home.

But, my real point is, (if ever I had one) that I find it really interestin’
when AFOL compete against each other. I too find myself in this situation or
happened to come across a fellow enthusiast…however, civility is usually the
course of action. Although an all-out brawl in the toy isle would be  f a r
more interesting!!!

No, in all seriousness, it's friendly.  If another AFOL is there,
negotiation takes place--we just have to make sure we get everything
between us, and then we can swap and reload the carts once the goodies
are safe.  The stuff that day, however, had not gone on sale; they'd
forgotten to update the prices.  We had to wait several days.  And
when I did pick lots of stuff up, I offered some things to Eric (RIS
accessory packs) but he never responded (bad!  BAD!).

   best

(...) Shame on you Richard N. If you had cross-posted to .shopping (which I have now graciously done) you would be more likely to get pointers from the real pro's. Luckily for you I happened to notice this post. Lindsay's right about being there (...) (23 years ago, 23-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.org.us.michlug, lugnet.market.shopping)
