Huh. Not according to the pics I saw (after the fact). They hinged just
outside the wing guns, and folded in, not quite hitting the fuselage. Now,
I'd seen a number of other variations as well, with undermounted pods and
four blade props etc. .. oh, well. I dig your models, for sure!

I'm not sure what images you used as reference, but take a look at these:

Granted, later variants of the Spitfire may have had the outward folding
gear, but in all of the images I can find it features inward folding gear;
exactly as you portrayed it.

One thing I've noticed that the inward folding landing gear is a common
trait on American aircraft of the period, while outward folding gear seems
common on German and British models.

I guess I'll just have to post the reference I used.... or just forget about it, since I appear to have done right (...) (23 years ago, 6-Dec-01, to lugnet.build.military)
