Ahhhh. Thats nice. I REALLY like how you put the plates on either side of
the cockpit - that really gives the effect of the narrow Spitfire cockpit.

You got it right, actually. The landing gear on a real Spitfire DO fold away
from the fuselage. Take a look at the gear on my BF-109.

The Spitfire and the BF-109 both shared the narrow wheel base. The only
modification I would make to the landing gear is pull the hinges a bit
closer to the fuselage.
