Ralph,

Very nice indeed, and an interesting camo scheme too!

It is always interesting to see how different builders approach modeling the
same thing in their own way.

I do like how you pulled off the landing gear - I always found that challenging
when building my own planes.

Thanks for  sharing!

cheers

Hi Magnus,
Thanks for the reply. I'm glad that you like my F-16.
As I wrote before, when trying to build realistic models with LEGO you always
have to compromise, since you simply cannot reproduce all the difficult shapes
you'll find on an actual aircraft, certainly not on this scale (about 1/35).

I am quite pleased with the landing gear on this one. Originally I thought that
I would have to opt for something similar to the gear on my A-7
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=127827
That, however, is rather complicated, takes up a lot of space when folded, and
isn't particularly sturdy. Fortunately I had a new idea for the F-16 and the new
gear is a lot simpler, more compact, and even (slightly) sturdier. I'm so happy
with it that in due time I might retrofit a similar system to the A-7.

The camouflage was an unfortunate necessity, since I didn't have enough light
grey to build an F-16 in its more normal scheme. I like with how it turned out,
but I getting the wings strong enough proved hard, and I have used practucally
all the small plates in grey, tan and in sandblue that I had available. (I do
have a lot more LEGO, but most of it has been used in MOCs that are currently on
the other side of the North Sea.)

Cheers,
Ralph
