A few weeks ago Ryan Parrish introduced his new F-16 Fighting Falcon MOC to
lugnet: http://news.lugnet.com/build/military/?n=2252
We had a bit of a discussion about it, in which I announced that I too had plans
to build an F-16 as well. Guess what? It is finished and can be seen on:
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=195584
I would have liked to build it in the colour schema common to most F-16s, that
is dark grey on top and lighter gray on the bottom. However, sadly I didn't have
enough parts to do that, and since I am a bit of a fan of navy aircraft anyway,
I decided to build a camouflaged U.S. Navy F-16N instead. A total of 26 of these
aircraft were used as adversaries in air combat excercises by the U.S. Navy
Fighter Weapons School (a.k.a Topgun) as well as a number of other adversary
units between 1986 and 1994. They were basically F-16Cs stripped of their gun
and other weapons systems, and fitted with a lighter radar.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Ralph

| Very nice! Great job with the colour scheme, landing gears and nose. You can also call that IAF scheme and put weapons on it. My only suggestion is this part in new dark gray is perfect for the engine exhaust: (URL) (18 years ago, 23-Jul-06, to lugnet.build.military)

| Ralph, Very nice indeed, and an interesting camo scheme too! It is always interesting to see how different builders approach modeling the same thing in their own way. I do like how you pulled off the landing gear - I always found that challenging (...) (18 years ago, 24-Jul-06, to lugnet.build.military)

| (...) Nice plane, Ralph. I know how tough camo is. And the landing gear is especially cool. As a technic-impaired builder, I'd like to learn how you did that. Perhaps closeup photos and a blow-by-blow breakdown of the building process would be (...) (18 years ago, 24-Jul-06, to lugnet.build.military)

| Impressive build. I especially like your solution to the nose, which seems to be a sticking point for so many. You also pulled off a camoflage look very well (something I doubt I'll ever be brave enough to try, piece limit or no), and as mentioned (...) (18 years ago, 27-Jul-06, to lugnet.build.military)
