Model submissions want for Military LEGO modeling book!

Hello Military model builders! I have been approached by No Starch Press ((URL)) to put together an introductory volume on the topic of Military modeling with LEGO bricks. While I have an extensive collection of my own models to feature, I feel the (...) (17 years ago, 30-Sep-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX) !!

  Re: My Military Vehicles

George, Thanks for sharing! You've got some neat stuff, and it must be nice to have access to all that "olive green brick" :) I like your vehicles - the APC and armored car both look very nice and the choppers are all rendered very nicely in "Lego (...)   My Military Vehicles

Hello Everyone This is my first post on this newsgroup, and I thought that I would start by posting a link to my military vehicles. Some of you may have seen them already, others may have not. (URL) this stage, I am using LDraw to create most of my (...) (17 years ago, 17-Aug-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Blackout Transformer from the movie

Beautiful! An excellent chopper and an excellent robot. Looks better than the toy since you can add more articulation. Superb work! Dave S. (17 years ago, 1-Sep-07, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: Blackout Transformer from the movie

Simply amazing! I'm not a huge fan of the movie, but you've captured Blackout very well! I've always wondered about building Transformers, but haven't really tried it since I was very young. These new Transformers have a very complex way of (...) (17 years ago, 31-Aug-07, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Blackout Transformer from the movie

So, I saw the movie, and it made me want to build another Transformer, so I knocked this little ol' thing out. (2 URLs) Click the pictures, if you please. Adrian (17 years ago, 31-Aug-07, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.space, FTX) !!

  LUGNET aircraft group?

This newsgroup (lugnet.build.military) is great for posting military aircraft, such as (URL) Ralph Savelsberg's F-117A and Su-27>. But there's really no suitable place for civilian aircraft. I know that LUGNET has been in a pretty static state for a (...) (17 years ago, 31-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.admin.suggestions, FTX)

Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) Thank you. In recent years LEGO have made things a lot easier by introducing all kinds of convenient wedge shapes and suitable colours. The Flanker wouldn't look as good in old-fashioned blue and grey. Cheers, Ralph (17 years ago, 30-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) Wow. Those are just stunning. You've really raised the bar for aircraft MOCs. (17 years ago, 29-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Stealth gunship

(...) Hi Magnus, Indeed, camouflage is harder to do on a small model with complex shapes. Large flat areas are relatively easy. In that case limiting the number of colours is a good idea. That simplifies matters somewhat. I agree that certain parts (...) (17 years ago, 26-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) I spent a lot of time on getting the shape right, and reading this I guess I succeeded fairly nicely. I do think that the studs were a bit of a give-away as to what is the LEGO version. (...) Thanks. I appreciate it, Ralph (17 years ago, 26-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) Thanks. (...) You've got a keen eye. Yes, they rotate through a full 180 degrees. It's not quite the way it works on the real aircraft, but indeed there simply wasn't any room otherwise. (...) Thanks. For some odd reason it doesn't always turn (...) (17 years ago, 26-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Stealth gunship

Marc, (...) :) Thanks! (...) It's held in by a half pin, which means that it stays on well enough unless someone knocks against the tail. (...) It would be cool to build something like that, it would allow me to build an armored vehicle a littl (...) (17 years ago, 25-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

  Re: Stealth gunship

Ralph, (...) Thanks for your kind words! You do camo very nicely. I think the problem with this chopper is that there are too many colors being used and there isn't as much space to spread them out over, as there is on say the top of a fighter (...)   Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

Ralph, Wow, love 'em both!:) (...) Very nice, your bomb bay and landing gear all look so neat! Do the rear whels rotate as they go in (otherwise how do they fit?) Great use of a variety of slopes and snot to get that unique look just right! (...) (...) (17 years ago, 25-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) These are both fantastic models! I especially like the Stealth - I remember modeling those with the old Testor's model as a teen years ago. Your Lego version is beautiful - when the BrickShelf folder came up I had a hard time figuring out from (...) (17 years ago, 25-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) Hi Jack, thanks. I'm glad you like them. Since your from St. Louis, I can imagine you liking my Hornet and Eagle as well. (URL) Anyway, the windows on both (actually the canopies on all of my aircraft) are made with transparent plastic, cut to (...) (17 years ago, 25-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

Re: New military aircraft: F-117A Stealth fighter and Su-27 Flanker

(...) Ralph, Very nice, both of them. I was big into military aircraft in high school (so many years ago) and these brought back some good memories. One of these days, I'll get around to building some modern war-birds. What did you use for the glass (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

  Re: Stealth gunship

(...) Hi Magnus. Indeed, It does look like a cross between a Comanche and a Cobra. The retractable landing skids are a nifty touch. I doubt that's ever been done on a real helicopter, but it looks good. The overall model is nicely proportioned and I (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Stealth gunship

(...) Plus, it just looks cool! Nice work, Magnus. The landing gear is quite clever; just looking at the first couple pics, it doesn't even seem like it's there. How is the tail rotor held on? Is there a half-pin in the arch, or is it just jammed in (...) (17 years ago, 24-Jul-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)
