Hello Military model builders!

I have been approached by No Starch Press (http://nostarch.com/) to put together an introductory volume on the topic of Military modeling with LEGO bricks. While I have an extensive collection of my own models to feature, I feel the book would be more complete if I was to include models from other builders as well. To this end I am calling for photographic submissions of military models to be considered for publication in this book.

PHOTOS

Specifically I am looking for the following high-resolution, full color photographs of your ORIGINAL military models. The scope of the book will be from 1900 to present and will include all types of models including fighting and support vehicles for land, sea and air. In exchange for publishing your photograph(s) I will send you a completed copy of the book. You will also be given full credit for your work (of course!).

To submit a photo please send it as an email attachment to blackened(AT)visi(DOT)com. I will assume that all photographs sent come with permission to be published in book and any subsidiary works that No Starch Press may produce. Once the finished volume is published I will send you a copy of the book. You can save me some time by including your mailing address along with your photo submission. If your photos are available in an online gallery, please let me know as this may be easier than sending several email submissions. I can also accept submissions on CD ore actual prints to the address below (include appropriate postage if you want them return):

INSTRUCTION SUBMISSION

The book will feature several sets of step-by-step building instructions for models of my own designs. However I would consider including instructions for outstanding models from other designers. If you have step by step instructions rendered in Ldraw please let me know and I will consider using them. Of course you will be appropriately compensated for use of your instructions. Any instruction submission must use only parts and colors that are actually available! If you have instructions you would like to submit, please email a photo or link to your model/

DEADLINE

I am on pretty tight schedule to complete this book and therefor would like to receive your submissions no later than October 31st, 2007. The actual book will be published in 2008.

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!

Daniel Siskind

(...) --snip-- (...) Hi Dan, Sounds like an ineresting book. You might want to have a sniff around the (URL) LEGO Military> group on Flickr if you haven't already done so. Daniel, Sounds very interesting. Are you mainly just interested in replicas of actual weapons and vehicles, or are you also interested in free built MOCs that simply look realistic and may be inspired by various real life vehicles? thanks Magnus (17 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

Do you think there would be any interest in my (URL) MH-53> as Blackout from the Transformers movie for the book, or is it too sci-fi? Adrian (17 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)

UPDATE: I was forced to postpone a lot of work on this project for several months due to personal reasons. However, I am now back on track to completion within the next several weeks. This message is to let people know I still have room to include (...) (16 years ago, 23-Jan-08, to lugnet.build.military, FTX)
