    Definition of "micro" —Phillip Thorne
"Micro" has two conflicting meanings: figures and size of model. Confusing! Thinking further from Ashley Glennon's talk at BrickFest DC 2004... All models built to accomodate minifigs have a consistent scale (the minifigs can move between them); and (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

Re: Definition of "micro" —Allan Bedford
(...) I hope minifig scale isn't quite 1:60. If my math is not way out of whack, I think that would mean that a minifig represents a 'real' person that's about seven and a half feet tall. :) I think, depending on who you talk to, minifig scale is (...)          Re: Definition of "micro" —Phillip Thorne
(...) Oh, good. I always enjoy articulating ripe potential-yet-unvoiced notions. (...) It seems the *convention* (not a standard) espoused by Ashley Glennon and Janey "Red Brick" is that a "microfig" be a 1x1 round cylinder (optionally with a 1x1 (...)          Re: Definition of "micro" —Allan Bedford
(...) Ahhh...O.K. I think I see what you mean/meant. You're talking about a builder-manufactured "microfig" rather than something like the LEGO-manufactured "minifigs". (...) I think you've hit on what I was trying to suggest earlier. That this (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

Re: Definition of "micro" —Phillip Thorne
(...) Okay. We'll simply call them "sub-mini-super-micro figs." :) For instance, (URL) these tiny astronauts> or (URL) my tiny Starfleet figures>. And what exactly is "stickfig?" (...) Yes. If such a model fits in your hand, it's merely a "small (...) (20 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

(...) Miniland is the brick-built world at the Legoland parks, occupied by 5-6 inch figures built of normal bricks: (URL) a couple of AFOL versions, see Sean Kenney: (URL) Mike Crowley: (URL) (20 years ago, 26-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale)

Re: Definition of "micro" —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) Forgive my late reply, but I've been offline for quite a while... "Stickfig" is a term I coined for the scale where a person is depicted by a 1x1 cylinder with a couple of 1x1 round plates on top. It's a "stick figure" representation of a (...)         Re: Definition of "micro" —Kevin Blocksidge
(...) I was talking to Janey Cook about this very issue just recently; she had told me that some people wished to have some sort of established levels of scale. I told her this idea was silly. What I like most about micro-scale is how free-form it (...) (20 years ago, 24-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

Re: Definition of "micro" —Bruce Hietbrink
(...) I agree. Down with compartmentalized dorkism! There was similar sillines (IMO) in .space when people wanted to come up with standard rules for defining different types of spaceships, ignoring the fact that these MOCs by different builders were (...)         Re: Definition of "micro" —C. L. GunningCook
(...) Hello all, IMO, Microscale is really in a development stage, and although there are some key players that have done some outstanding work and have for years, most AFOL have yet to dabble in this scale. Micro is a delight because with in a (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

Re: Definition of "micro" —John Barnes
(...) I am a micro newbie. I followed the general "a micro fig is a 1x1 round" guideline for BrickFest and built a building. It was a total blast to do although in my opinion actually quite difficult to get the desired look. A very intriguing (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

Re: Definition of "micro" —J. Spencer Rezkalla
(...) Yes! This is exactly the point I touched upon in my WTC design paper(1). I've dubbed this type of technique as "mind's eye modeling", which I describe as "creating a model that visually matches or exceeds what a typical person expects to see. (...)         Re: Definition of "micro" —Ross Crawford
(...) Well my micro creations have varied from about 1:100 to 1:250 or less, so I obviously think that the actual scale is fairly flexible. For instance, though I know some will disagree, I think (URL) comes within my notion of micro. And I think (...) (20 years ago, 25-Aug-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)
