A tripedal unit could throw itself off balance, lift a leg, and catch itself in a more forward position--or balance itself on two legs before lifting a leg. I'm not claiming it's (...)    (...) Thanks Marco, I included the shot in question so that others could see my solution to getting the legs to be 120 degrees from each other.
