Just two restrictions I’d like to apply:

1. No alternate website ideas. The idea is to improve the venue we have, not siphon off traffic and nearly kill it like .castle.

2. No requests for massive recoding/restructuring. Sorry, Greg, but Todd’s not gonna rewrite Lugnet so you can have your ideal community forum.

Here are mine:

Relax. Don’t worry about posting frequency, volume of models, etc. Look at .space. Nowhere near the amount of complaining about lack of activity that other groups have. If nothing happens for a month, that’s fine, let it go.

Foster discussion. Bring up influences on design, share details of your process, or talk about cool stuff you’d like to build soon. Post pictures of the half-finished mecha sitting on your desk.

You don’t have to be original, most of this has been covered before, but get ideas flowing. Get comfortable with the others in the group. Don’t ask what everyone else is doing to foster discussion, do it yourself. Be so cool we can’t help but respond.

Start a contest. Build to a monthly theme. Harass people who haven’t posted in a while. Let’s do this!

(Rude and uncouth, yes. Very probably wrong, yes. But somebody had to.)

fantastice ideas, soren. also, my compliments on updating the sidebar. i just wanted to praise you for your creativity and optimism towards the evolution of build/mecha (wow-did i just use those words?). one thing, though: my internet access has become very limited as of late and will remain in the future. this explains why i haven’t posted to so many awesome mecha that have come up as of late, and why i haven’t posted any moc’s lately, either. the reason why i’m mentioning this is so that i don’t get hounded too much for my limited posting both presently and in the future. i still call this place “home” and will always post. just fyi.

(...) It should be noted that the front page of .mecha updates are due to the curators, your sentence structure suggests that maybe you think Soren did it. The (URL) curator list> will show you who the curator(s) is or are for a particular group. (21 years ago, 13-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) Not me, just Dave, my fellow .mecha insomniac. (...) Trust me, I'm not usually this optimistic. Or this creative, for that matter. It's the magical mushrooms :). (...) Don't worry about it. Soren (21 years ago, 13-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha)
