Just two restrictions I’d like to apply:

1. No alternate website ideas. The idea is to improve the venue we have, not siphon off traffic and nearly kill it like .castle.

2. No requests for massive recoding/restructuring. Sorry, Greg, but Todd’s not gonna rewrite Lugnet so you can have your ideal community forum.

Here are mine:

Relax. Don’t worry about posting frequency, volume of models, etc. Look at .space. Nowhere near the amount of complaining about lack of activity that other groups have. If nothing happens for a month, that’s fine, let it go.

Foster discussion. Bring up influences on design, share details of your process, or talk about cool stuff you’d like to build soon. Post pictures of the half-finished mecha sitting on your desk.

You don’t have to be original, most of this has been covered before, but get ideas flowing. Get comfortable with the others in the group. Don’t ask what everyone else is doing to foster discussion, do it yourself. Be so cool we can’t help but respond.

Start a contest. Build to a monthly theme. Harass people who haven’t posted in a while. Let’s do this!

I heartily approve. I’ll gladly admit I have contributed very little aside from posting my occasional finished projects because I don’t really have any discussion history with anyone and feel a bit like an outsider, but I read .mecha constantly and look at every single MOC that gets posted. I also have tons of outside influences and other pursuits to discuss if people want to broaden the discussion or also if we want to get to really specific part related or engineering discussions. For instance, I rarely see any discussions about joints or building styles that carry along any real clear or useful images or follow out to an end where you begin to have a teenie revelation about another way of negotiating space and form with the brick(s). I think some of the builders here have a gift for creating space and form with this basic lego language that is really astounding and it would be great to see more discussion and participation + I’ll be the first to join in! -> .mecha is the main reason I got back into building a few years ago - I started to realize that my understanding of the brick as a way to express and explore ideas and concepts could really transcend the standard “brick on top of brick” vocabulary and take the lego aesthetic to new places - that’s what makes .mecha so interesting as a group. So - again a hearty shout of approval, let’s get this thing kickin’. Along with more frequent discussion it would be great to be able to see more of the recent MOC’s in the sidebar so that it’s easier to jump around and see what people are doing... and also great to see people post links or images of sources of influence, etc...
