Re: Heavy duty mecha (or other) joint

(...) bricks and join them with a Technic axle, allowing the studs on either side of the joint to face outward. Nifty! Dave! (21 years ago, 4-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Heavy duty mecha (or other) joint

(...) Interesting....where does it get it's resistance from, or is it a free spinner? Cheers, -G (21 years ago, 4-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Heavy duty mecha (or other) joint

  Re: It's a Mech...It's a plane...It's, uh, both?

(...) Hey those guys were not the ultimatum on TFs (then again it was a licensed show, but look at some of those new designs ;-P ) (...) Adrian, You've created two excellent forms with this guy, and at microfig scale too! The proportions are great (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: It's a Mech...It's a plane...It's, uh, both?

(...) I wouldn't exactly call the transformation sequence "smooth", no. Because the shoulder joints are in essence a series of 1 stud connections, they have a habit of separating if I'm not careful. And the head, which is also a single stud (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: It's a Mech...It's a plane...It's, uh, both?

Hey, that's awesome! I've tried to make some transformers myself, but I either make it too big and run out of parts or make it too small and it ends up sucking or being flimsy. I think you did a great job of keeping both forms seperate and distinct (...) (21 years ago, 4-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Mecha Modules

I don't know if there are any in current sets (they'd be Technic), but PITSCO/Lego Dacta (what would I do without them? :)) sells packs of one hundred and eight for roughly seven bucks. They've also got tread links, BTW. Take care, Soren (21 years ago, 3-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  RSC Rebirth: Rounded Slope Compendium

(2 URLs) When I started the RSC for the mech-heads back in early 2002, it was with the intent that we'd have a growing resource for all the beautiful slopes, wedges, and canopies that LEGO has released recently. It was a nice intent, but without (...) (21 years ago, 3-Jun-03, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.general, lugnet.db.inv, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Mecha Modules

(...) you know...i see those chain hinge pieces used a lot and i really would love to know where/what sets those can be found in? are they in technic sets? are they even produced anymore? i seriously would love to get my hands on some o dem! all (...)   Re: It's a Mech...It's a plane...It's, uh, both?

(...) Wow, now you're getting old school :) (...) Yeah, nothing has to be removed to do the transformation, though it's a great deal easier to do if I separate it at the waist first. That way I don't have to worry about the legs dangling about while (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: It's a Mech...It's a plane...It's, uh, both?

(...) Great experiment Adrian...and a successful one I might add! It rings of the pre-Transformers that I remember picking up on Florida trips. I don't know if they were Diaclone or not...I think they may have been spinoffs from the Gi-King (sp?) (...) (21 years ago, 2-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: It's a Mech...It's a plane...It's, uh, both?

(...) Thanks, I really enjoyed building it. Unfortunately, I'm pushing the limits of my grey hinge collection, so the next one I build (and there WILL be a next one) will have to be some other color majority. (...) The two modes did turn out (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Prototyping

(...) Me too. Check out Kotaro Ono's very cool racing team truck for an excellent example of this idea. If I had enough of those curved pieces, I'd be using it myself. (URL) (21 years ago, 1-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: It's a Mech...It's a plane...It's, uh, both?

(...) Better, I'd wager! Adrian, this is a super-fantastic transforming mech, definitely in the tradition of the Transformers and Robotech, but wholly unique. It would be an accomplishment just to have created either one or the other of the (...) (21 years ago, 1-Jun-03, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: It's a Mech...It's a plane...It's, uh, both?

(...) absolutely! I always wanted that one too! about 1 1/2 months ago I was able to get a blue max sterling robotech reissue-it comes in a 'book' like package & was about $80 at my comic store. it came with a little pilot fig for the cockpit!
