  Re: better photographic technique

(...) No they are just green lego. The camera picks up the green very well in contrast with the black. That's sort of the trouble with my cheap camera, it has a selective color sensitivity (perhaps favoring natural hues to make the typical outdoors (...)   Re: better photographic technique

(...) It is spiritually a reincarnation and technically all new, in the same way gundams tended to be destroyed and rebuilt with new technology in Gundam Wing. (...) Yes but then it wouldn't be minifig scale. A custom mobile armor unit of some type (...) (23 years ago, 28-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: better photographic technique

Yes interesting, the sheen of the Black with out the look of plastic. That is one awesome looking Mech. Absolutely fantastic! I know what it is about your style now that I'm so drawn to. The way you make smooth connections with plate and slope, (...) (23 years ago, 28-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

The Minbari, and to a lesser extent the Centauri, are suspected of using drives that interact with the Zero Point Field (don't have time to explain the ZPF right now), thus enabling them to use a reactionless drive. Your're wrong about the (...) (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

(...) Not quite sure what you mean here. A ship could fly in space with similar flightpaths to how it can fly in an atmosphere. Nothing says that it can't. If you want to execute a smooth sweeping turn like in the atmosphere, you need only have (...) (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Getting my own fingers into this mech thing.

(...) Hey, thanks! Yeh, these alien suits often try to look like creatures because, in a sense, they *are* creatures. How can one improve on nature? :) (...) Actually, boring is precisely what I wanted. Utile, facile, and most of all camoflauged. (...) (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

(...) I don't see how this question is even debatable, because you're talking about fictional technologies, most of which disobey all current known laws of physics. You might be able to debate specific cases, but it's still extremely difficult to do (...) (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

(...) Sure they can co-exist, if the creator of the show wishes them to. :) Now, if you want TV show/movie examples, try Macross/Robotech, Nadesico, and Gundam. But since it is all fantasy anyway, anything a creator deems possible, is, well, (...) (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

space/mecha combat theories... (was Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?)

In starfox, there is a level where you fly around in space and kill robot/mech things, I dunno if that's what you mean though. But I think (from a non-anime oriented perspective) that mecha could easily be pitted agains't spacecraft and have a (...) Wow, quite a few replies here! Let me try to explain my theory in a different way and you can tell me if you guys agree with me or not?   Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

(...) I know that the Minbari's shuttles had what looked like 4 engines so I would presume that they are using standard propulsion methods, and one would suspect that the fighters are the same.   Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

Yes, B5 ships actually obey the laws of physics by accelerating and deccelerating. Unlike 'Trek. In ST the ships always act like atmospheric vehicles, namely in the manner that they don't have to deccelerate/reaccelerate to turn around. Colin, When Sproat was out here in California in April I got to copy two of his models. Very very intricate, very articulate, very beautiful.
