space/mecha combat theories... (was Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?)

In starfox, there is a level where you fly around in space and kill robot/mech things, I dunno if that's what you mean though. But I think (from a non-anime oriented perspective) that mecha could easily be pitted agains't spacecraft and have a (...) Whoa! check that out! Ha look at the way you did the hip connections wit those old style laser 1 x2's too cool. Oh look at the feet how you used the driod bodies on the feet! wow that's neat....and check out the shoulders! You done a good thing. (...) (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Getting my own fingers into this mech thing.

(I posted this message a few days ago but forgot about the authenticication. HEre it is again.) Yay! Sweden's getting a new, cool weapon! (Which is good because I'm a Swede, hehe...) I like it, especially the dinosaur-like-look. However, the colour (...) (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

Wow, quite a few replies here! Let me try to explain my theory in a different way and you can tell me if you guys agree with me or not? "Mech combat are not compatible with non-mech space combat." or rephrased: "Mechs fight with mechs and they can (...)   Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

(...) I know that the Minbari's shuttles had what looked like 4 engines so I would presume that they are using standard propulsion methods, and one would suspect that the fighters are the same. I don't know about the cruisers but the White Star (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

Yes, B5 ships actually obey the laws of physics by accelerating and deccelerating. Unlike 'Trek. In ST the ships always act like atmospheric vehicles, namely in the manner that they don't have to deccelerate/reaccelerate to turn around. Belated response, but oh well, I think those are pretty nice! Espeically the police mech, I hope to see more from you soon! -Geordan- (...) (23 years ago, 27-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Getting my own fingers into this mech thing.

Colin, When Sproat was out here in California in April I got to copy two of his models. Very very intricate, very articulate, very beautiful. Seeing them IRL and taking them apart to see how Jeremy made them was too much. I felt very honored. He is (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Yeah I remember you had the legs built before I even thought of making an origami mecha. Your battle droid torsos are turned differently than the legs I have. Bryce (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New MOC: HM-1 "Kicker" High Mobility Hard-Suit

Well of course, I mean, it is a minifig suit, but it's on the smaller side so I just sort of lazily referred to it as mini-mecha, but that's besides the point....... RANDOM ON! (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  I'm Back!

Well it's been awhile, but I've finally pulled myself out of my laziness fit. So i decided to start posting here again. Unfortunately, I don't have a camera, which stinks, I hafta use my dad's. Which also stinks. but on the good side, I decided to (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New MOC: HM-1 "Kicker" High Mobility Hard-Suit

(...) Thanks Peter! This isn't really a "mini-mecha", it is a hard-suit (although the arms are computer controlled and half of the legs are as well). Mladen Pejic, over and out! (URL) (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: New MOC: HM-1 "Kicker" High Mobility Hard-Suit

Woah, Supernifty, I have to say you have an incredible knack for building small versatile and really cool looking mini-mecha. I tried building a little dude once, but the project sort of blew up in my face, and the dude's parts were recycled into (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

(...) Yeah, B5 fighters Starfuries have thrusters on the front and sides, allowing omni-directional movement. They used the slide factor alot for combat (Fighter trajectory going the oppsite direction of the fighter). And in reply to Jeff's comment (...)   Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

(...) Yep, the human fighters (Starfuries) require manuevering jets to change direction and speed. The only other race I know offhand how they operate are the Minbari's, which use gravity generators. I'm not sure if they have them on their fighters (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Gasaraki 1, any good?

(...) Well yeah, you would probably want to paint in some weathering, like some aluminum around the sharper edges or something. Other wise, (IMO) it starts looking too plastic, like if you assemble any unpainted model kit. This kit looks pretty good (...) (23 years ago, 26-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
