  Re: The Max

(...) Thanks ME. I see you're a legs man, I'm into breasts myself. One thing I was worried about was pulling off the armor look to the legs. I didn't want the KK joints too exposed on this build. As to color, it kinda dictated the moc as I build in (...) (19 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) Oh Nick, if its one thing I do in this lifetime, I'll get you to appreciate crotch-mounted hardware. BTW, its not a Smart Phone in my underpants, I'm just always happy to see you. F (19 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: The Max

Hi Fradel, It's a good military Mecha MOC but the legs are so chunky it looks to me like a Mech that's 'eaten' too much. Maybe you should have called it 'Max Body Fat'? I like all the 'pods' stuck on the back and the opening hatch so you can get a (...) (19 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: The Max

(...) I love it. The legs, in particular - they're so magnificently chunky. The body has a nice hefty feel to it too. I like that you've managed to fit two minfigs in the body without making it too big, and there's some lovely SNOTing in there. (...) (19 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) Sorry, but Star Wars isn't science fiction.:-) Really, it isn't. The technology is contrived for the sake of the story, which is why it's unrealistic. The space ships have windows! Cap ships exchange broadsides a few feet away from each other! (...) (19 years ago, 10-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) Hmmm... Science Fiction has little to do with reality. Allow me to use my absolutely most favorite sci-fi space ship, Imperial (Imperator) Class Star Destroyer. I love Star Destroyers, I drool over any image of a Star Destroyer, however, at (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: The Max

(...) Listen Fradel, I know smack when I see it. Who exactly are these "people", the blind? If it's Schin, I think we have our answer. -Keith (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: The Max

(...) Oh its not smack. Its a running joke in Wamalug because several times people would get us confused for each other for some reason. (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: The Max

F-Dawg, It's a cool mech Frahdeel, I've already told you that, probably your best yet...although I think it needs a new module of your ever expanding, and award-winning mechbay to show it off. (shameless plug for dios) I have to say though, that (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  The Max

Hi all. I don't post much but here is my lastest mecha. In the renewed spirit of Mecha builder camaraderie I thought it fitting to share it now with you all. This mecha came about because I wanted to try a two-seater variant of this guy: (URL) was (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) Ah, I had no idea those were Knight's Kingdom, since I don't/wouldn't own any KK. Mine came from the Creator sets - I privately refer to them as Dino-joints. I used them because they seemed to be the correct size for what I needed, and (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) Thanks for having me as a judge, and for all your efforts. The creativity and variety was great. I'd like to say that this was a difficult set of MOCs to judge, and there were a lot of entries I saw that I really liked. In the constraints of (...)   Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) He means the Knight's Kingdom (action fig) joints. I wouldn't avoid them. They're nice and strong and bloody useful.   Re: IRON MECHA Results!

Congrats Stafford! First a mention on the SciFi wire, and now this. Kudos to "Ironmecha Stafford", as you should be addressed from now on.   Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) Hmmm, good explanation. If we're equating 'self-consistency' with 'realism' then I agree with you. A good mecha design is not going to have any 'out-of-place' details. I guess I misunderstood your initial argument. but on the other hand: (...) (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) Sorry, not up on the lingo - What is a KK2 hinge? So that perhaps I can avoid them next time. Appreciate the compliments. Congratulations to every entrant, especially the winner's circle. (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) Philip K Dick, among countless others, has also addressed this. His distinction between sci-fi and fantasy was similar but more fundamental: if an element of the story is considered impossible, then it's fantasy. Not "improbable" or "currently (...)   Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) This is like the difference between Fantasy and Science Fiction, which I often like to explain. :-) Science Fiction requires some intellectual rigor and logic. You can certainly make up weird new science, but it has to be self consistent. (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

(...) I don't have enough experience to be up to a serious discussion on this point, beyond the subjective platitude of 'if I like the way it looks then it's a good mecha'. I mean, the only lego mecha I've seen in real life are my own! But: I'm not (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: IRON MECHA Results!

With this collection of creations arrayed here, I think it would be interesting if we had a discussion on what we each think defines a good mecha model.
