Do water and Lego bricks mix? Maybe we should try to find out! Here are a few
contest ideas. Let me know what you think, and we'll settle on one or more of
them and flesh them out for the June 12 IndyLUG meeting at the pool.
Floatation contest. Who's MOC can float the longest? Lest this be as exciting to
watch as peeling paint, we'll add turbulance to the water as time goes on.
Best dressed. The best-looking MOC that really floats (capsizing doesn't count
as floating).
Boat race! A real possibility using the new motorized boat set(s?).
Water-themed vignettes.
Capture the flag. One or more buoys will be outfitted with a Spybot infrared
beacon and a removable "flag". The first to take the flag wins! All others will
get points for surviving the contest, and for making contact with the beacon.
Best water toy. Construct a water toy purely from Lego parts.
Now, if you are concerned about your parts floating off into oblivion, rest
assured that the worst problem will be figuring out whose loose part is whose.
Should you entirely lose track of a brick, the various screens in the filtration
system will gently catch and hold your precious plastic for later retrieval. (I
have personally retrieved a contact lens unharmed from the pump screen.)

Any of these sounds great, but I'd probably add a rule saying that any floating MOC cannot use those boat hull pieces specifically designed for floating on water (but those minifig rowboats & canoes would be ok I think) - that'd kinda lose the (...)
