BrickFest Hosts the “Build the Trust” Adult LEGO Enthusiast’s Model Contest

The BrickFest Team is proud to announce its participation in celebrating the
LEGO Group’s 50th anniversary of its System of Play by hosting a competition for
the adult LEGO enthusiast. The LEGO Group is sponsoring this in conjunction with
the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which recently designated the LEGO
Town Plan, the very first LEGO system range, as historic.

The contest is open to BrickFest participants and has two categories:

Best LEGO Replica of any of the National Trust’s Historical Sites
- Minifigure scale
- Micro scale

Best Original LEGO Model in Historical Style/Detail
- Minifigure scale
- Micro scale

Those building in minifigure scale will have the opportunity to be part of the
50th Anniversary National Trust Village.

Entrants will be judged at BrickFest in Washington, DC August 14. Models will be
judged on engineering/construction/detail of design, originality, and creative
use of LEGO elements. The judging committee will have a LEGO executive, a LEGO
ambassador, an executive from the National Trust and the Graham Gund architect
from the National Trust.

There will be a finalist chosen from each category. The Grand Prize winner will
be designated Champion LEGO Preservationist, and receive a LEGO trophy, a
weekend stay in the National Trust Historic Hotel of their choice, and $500
spending money. Finalists will have their model on display at the appropriate
National Trust for Historical Preservation site, and all entrants who bring a
completed model to BrickFest will receive a certificate of participation from
the National Trust for Historical Preservation.

The BrickFest Team is excited and proud to host this competition and encourages
all BrickFest attendees to be a part of 'Building the Trust!"

The BrickFest link page says that the Original LEGO Model can be built in MINILAND scale: (...) Can I build a Historic Site replica building in this scale to show more accurate details? Ben (19 years ago, 3-Jun-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

(...) The following website may be useful to those of you planning on entering the Building The Trust contest. It contains blueprints and photos of many of the locations. (URL) great link was recently sent to me so it will be added to the website (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jun-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest)

(...) The architectural diagrams are extremely helpful. However, they beg the question is this competition strictly for exteriors or exteriors plus interiors? I'd been planning on doing just exteriors. Kelly (19 years ago, 2-Jul-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)
