I'm not sure this qualifies as a dome. I like to or at least try to make my roofs "exciting". A dull roof can kill a house with an otherwise great/interesting facade. I constructed this microscale Chinese pagoda as a centerpiece for a dinner party (for 25!) that we hosted two weeks ago. It isn't accurate to any specific pagoda, but is broadly based on some of the techniques and styles I observed in some source (...) Wow, Alistair, this is a beautiful recreation. I am particularly impressed with the interior detail. The tiled floor pattern is very nicely done is the room with the stately dark red columns. This is a recent MOC of a row of English terraced houses. It's typical of working class housing from around 1900 as can be found across much of the Midlands and North of England. I built this a few years ago, but I don't think I ever announced it at the time. It's a Scots Baronial mansion house, based on the buildings of 19th century Edinburgh architect David Bryce. Kedleston Hall is a classical 18th century mansion in Derbyshire, UK. The tracks from the Snowmobile 8272 and Bulldozer 8275 make a great tunnel mouth or bridge arch - smoother than using slope bricks. (URL) used 27 links at the moment, fixing them twice on each side. Fantastic job. When I first saw the exterior shot of the living room window, I started humming the haunting music to Alfred Hitchcock's "North by Northwest". Hi Erik, while I appreciate the creativeness of that idea, I can't help but wonder why you wouldn't just start with "ribbed" columns (i.e. making the entire column cross-shaped to give the ribbed impression you find with a lot of buildings of that (...) Hi, During a discussion on the mailing list of FreeLUG, someone asked for some new parts to build Gothic arches (and their column). Among them, a "star" brick ( two 1x3 bricks intersected in their middle), an inverted "star" slope (two slope bricks (...) Hi John fareaway friend! I am happy that my "Überraschung" (surprise) worked well. I really prefer to build a MOC first and then showing it online or at events. Hi Alan, thanks for you feedback. I knew that there was allready a LEGO model of the church for fundraising. At flickr.com I found this: (3 URLs) I contacted LEGO if they know what happend to this model - but they don't know. These days it is not (...) Hi Olof, (...) Thanks for you feedback! The PBY-5A Catalina seems to be a challenge. There is hardly any normal LEGO plate like surface: (2 URLs) (bigger picture) But do not show any sneak previews. Hi Aaron, thank you for your feedback as well. And yes, feel free to use these pictures as a reference for your own creations. I allways try to start with a very characteristic detail or area of a building. The tall windows with the double arches (...) Hi Gary, many thanks for your bi-lingual feedback and comments! While gathering information I used several websites and two nice books. I know most of the whole history of the church right now. Holger, Kurz gesagt, Ausgezeichnet!! Dresden's Frauenkirche (also its' Cathedral), was Germany's largest (as-built) Lutheran Cathedral. Very nice model! When we visited Dresden in June 2004, the church was still under construction, but largely finished on the outside.
