My Own Castle Competition. We are hereby happy to announce the official castle-building competition for the Castle Room at BrickFest 2004.   Re: Brickfest Micro Moc Display and Contest

(...) Excellent Erik, nice work on both scales. Looking forward to seeing those micro-scaled creations at BrickFest. Janey "Red Brick" (URL) (21 years ago, 26-May-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.build.microscale, lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Brickfest Micro Moc Display and Contest

Very impressive! I love how you've captured the topography there. However, the scale is soo small that it's tough to build buildings with. I think I prefer your scale in the Ostia MOC. Good luck with these endeavours! Eric DeGiuli "Erik Olson" (...) (21 years ago, 24-May-04, to lugnet.build.microscale, lugnet.build.ancient)

  Re: Pyramids!

(...) (Not that size matters.) I bet you wish there were more tan slopes in the world. I like the bits of color and decoration inside. (Neat how Tecwolf's structural supports provide the color dots.) Your columns in the chamber are sweet. So, this (...) (21 years ago, 23-May-04, to lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: Brickfest Micro Moc Display and Contest

Hi, I've been building a lot of ancient theme stuff in micro-fig scale. I'm planning on bringing some to Brickfest. Micro-fig scale is fun because you get something built quickly. I am currently working at scaling up one micro MOC. The finished (...) (21 years ago, 23-May-04, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.build.microscale, lugnet.build.ancient)

Re: The new movie "TROY" and MOCs

(...) Well, Brad Pitt was so dedicated to his role as Achilles that he even went and tore his left achilles tendon! But seriously, I expect it to rank right up there with Gladiator. Fun popcorn movie, overhyped, probably get some Oscars...but still (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.castle, lugnet.gaming)

  Mycenae

This is a group of Mycenaean buildings such as might appear in Agamemnon's citadel. The battlement was actually intended for Troy (and adapted from CCC). All prototypes for further refinement. The buildings would all be flat on top. The battlements (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: The new movie "TROY" and MOCs

Hi there, Do tell more about what city you worked on! I just constructed 3 small Mycenaean houses based on Peter Connolly's illustration of Agamemnon's citadel in _The Greek World of Odysseus_. I had not realized how rich this book was, having read (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.castle, lugnet.gaming)

Re: The new movie "TROY" and MOCs

Well, I do not know much about the movie, heard about it first here. Yes, thousands of remakes, on big screen and little stupid box. Scrounging up somewhat authentic minifigs will be kind of hard, the closest I can think of are the knights with the (...)   Re: The new movie "TROY" and MOCs

About Troy... I'm not sure about the movie -- I hope it doesn't suck -- but I have been following the comic _Age of Bronze_ for some years and prefer that for references for MOCs. Eric Shanower uses every real detail he can get, while trying to (...) (21 years ago, 26-Apr-04, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.castle, lugnet.gaming)

The new movie "TROY" and MOCs

(...) All well done. I know a guy who did the exact set of rules that you are looking for that were specifically medieval.   The Vikings meet Medieval Cogs
