Hi, Leonard.

I think this is the first time that you’ve interpreted the bible in such a way that is calculated to be offensive to Christians.

As I mentioned in my reply to Bruce, it wasn’t meant to be offensive, but it certainly does challenge the Christian view of things. If that, in and of itself, is offensive to some people, well so be it. I think a devout Christian could have illustrated this law as I did. It need not nullify the rest of his beliefs, it’s just a recognition that the Old Testament says some things that would seem to fly in the face of certain other things in the New Testament. Figuring out how to square it all away is the job of theology.

However, it does support the argument of Jews that Jesus isn’t the Messiah.

That it does. And it also validates the actions taken by the Jews against Jesus when he claimed to be the Son of God. Their own Law mandated that they kill Jesus and be constantly on the lookout for any other false prophets. In this view, Jesus was a big “test” from Yahweh. The Jews passed, those who became Christians failed.

Actually, to carry it a bit farther, the Jews passed, but hardly with flying colors. They were also mandated by Yahweh to burn to the ground any towns where Christians have propigated the worship of Jesus. If the Jews had done that, there wouldn’t be any Christian towns left.

Of course, this is hardly restricted to Judaism vs. Christianity. I just happened to pick Christianity as an example. The Jews are also mandated to burn down and kill all the inhabitants of the towns of the other non-Yahweh-only worshipping religions, like Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc.

One thing that I do draw questions about is this page.

My sister (a devout Muslim) always points out the me that Jesus never refered to himself in the scriptures as any of the above (Son of God, God, or part of the Trinity) - only as “Son of Man”. Your picture clearly implies that Jesus did say that about himself, which may be misleading. Of course, that is exactly what Christians claim he is, sooo...

A moot point - just bringing it to your attention.

This is an excellent point, and one which I fully anticipated when I stuck these words into Jesus’s mouth. While it may be debatable as to just how much Jesus taught that he was the Son of God (as Bruce points out, at least *some*), it’s certain that he didn’t say anything about a three-part Godhead comprised of himself, God, and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is a much later theological invention. But as you point out, it’s kind of a moot point, since modern Christians almost universally see Jesus as in some way being God, or at least part of God. Clearly, any God that includes Jesus is a different God from the straight-up Yahweh of the Jews.

Otherwise, I love all the illustrations - and interior decorations especially. How you use the pins for floor decorations is particularly clever.

Thanks.

Question: How do you selectively clean off parts of a minifig faces while keeping the rest so clean?

I carefully use a razor to scrape away the unwanted decorations. I use a box cutter razor, but a hobby knife would work equally well. Occasionally you can still see a stray mark or something in the photos, and I have been known to “clean up” such things with Photoshop.

Also.. what’s up with your brickshelf folder?

Kevin has let me know that my account on Brickshelf is occasionally generating too much traffic, to the detriment of the rest of the site, and that consequently he’s had to temporarily suspend access to my account from time to time. The last thing I want is for The Brick Testament’s popularity to hurt the rest of the LEGO community, so I have begun hosting the website’s images elsewhere. Unfortunately, it’s a long and tedious process to update all the html to point to the new image host, but I’m working on it right now. The front page, all of Genesis, and the brand new Law stories are already done.

It currently looks as though my Brickshelf account has been suspended again, so access to the rest of the site may be unavailable until I get the rest of the site converted to the new image host. My apologies for the inconvenience. It may take a few days yet before the whole site is available. I’m working as fast as I can on this.

Lastly, where is this minifig torso from?

Looks like Bruce helped you out on this one.

Take care,

-Rev. Smith

PS. I’ve set the follow-up to offtopic-debate, but if anyone is responding to just the LEGO building aspects of this post, please respond to .ancient.

XFUT: O-T:Geek (...) If you arrange the folders in the same manner on the new host it should be a rather easy task of "search and replace" all of the HTML-files at once.
