New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Bram Lambrecht
While I was sorting, I came across arches and couldn't stop the fenders flashing through my head without building a Beetle at the same scale as my other cars. As always, the doors open. The front seats fold forward to let passengers into the back. (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.town, lugnet.general, lugnet.announce, lugnet.modelteam) !!

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —William R. Ward
(...) Very cool! Any chance of a .DAT file for it? --Bill. (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

RE: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Thanks! I'll most likely make a DAT file at some point, but if I don't get around to it before next Friday, you'll have to wait 'til mid July. --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Jacob Sparre Andersen
Bram: (...) a bit too steep or high. Isn't it lower than the "wheel covers"? Jacob (who hasn't seen a classic VW for around 60 minutes ;-) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.town)

RE: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Too steep, yes. Too high, no. It is taller than the fenders. I raised the lights and front bumper one plate, which helps a little bit. I'll post pictures later. --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.town)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Fredrik Glöckner
Very cool, Bram! You've once again proved that everything is possible with LEGO. I wouldn't have believed that such an accurate beetle could be made at that scale. Until I saw your photos, that is. Fredrik (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Holger Matthes
Hi Bram, (...) First of all: It's another great MOC! Lovely use of the arches around the wheels. And the little satellit dishes on the wheels. Brilliant. The only thing I am concerning are the front lights. They are too big! What about the dishes (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

RE: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Bram Lambrecht
(...) I know! But a 1x1 plate is too small. I really wish there was a 1.5 diameter round plate/tile/part that I could use for headlights on my cars. (...) I thought about it...but they're not really smaller, so it wouldn't make much of a difference. (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Suzanne D. Rich
(...) Ok, I honestly think: I want to know how many minifigs can be piled in there :-D and I think it's an adorable model! -Suz (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) I was thinking this too! :) I can see it now: Dr. Cyber minifigs with Islander heads and white maiden hats to represent clowns piling into the little 8-wide VW... I can almost smell the stale beer and popcorn! Great little car, though. Are (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Tore Eriksson

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) Depression set in yesterday, when I saw '68 green VW bug with "historic vehicle" tags. The only more depressing sight was seeing a Pinto with those tags last year. I think I may have to become a hermit when I see a K Car that's classed as (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

RE: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Thanks! They are minifig chairs. Since I didn't want to use up the 2x3 stud footprint usually required for each non-prefabricated chair, and since VW seats are small and unsupportive, I decided to use the minifig chairs. --Bram Bram Lambrecht (...)          RE: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Er, if the minifigs are required to sit in the seats, then you can fit just one. Looks like I didn't leave enough head room in the back :/ (...) Thanks! --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Tom Stangl
(...) Well, heck, that's realism for you - I haven't been able to sit in the back of a Beetle since I was about 10 years old ;-) -- | Tom Stangl, iPlanet Web Server Technical Support | Netscape Communications Corp | A division of AOL Time Warner | (...)          Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Joel Jacobsen
(...) While I was living out in Seattle, a friend's mom told me that when she was a teenager, they packed 13 highschoolers into a Beetle. I look at my '72... and just can't see it... my '00 New Beetle, maybe..it has far more room (thank God). (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Tore Eriksson
Wow-ow-ow! I just love it! The model of the year, IMHO. You haven't happened to LDraw it? :o) I'd like to see if I can build it with my limited parts, but in another colour. BTW, it is red, is isn't it? It looks quite orange at the pic's. /Tore (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

RE: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Wow, thanks! (...) Not yet :) (...) It is red. I don't know if I have the 8 arches necessary to build it in a different color. I seem to have a habit of photographing red and making it look orange... --Bram Bram Lambrecht bram@cwru.edu (URL) (23 years ago, 8-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —William R. Ward
(...) With my digital camera, if I don't put it into close-up mode (as indicated by an icon of one large tree, rather than 3 small ones), the Lego colors come out all wrong. But in close-up mode, the colors are more accurate. Perhaps you may find (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)

Re: New MOC: 8 wide VW Beetle —Joel Jacobsen
(...) Being the proud owner of a '72 Beetle, I can say that's probably just about as close as one's gonna get with bricks. Now..if the body on mine were as clean as yours... ;) Some day. Joel J (23 years ago, 15-Jun-01, to lugnet.build)
