Re: Large Technic crane —Robert G. Fay
Nice work Fredrik. I am curious about the base, can you pick up a load at full extension of the tractor. Looks like it would tip over. The mechanics really are neat. I like the diagrams. Wouldn't it be nice to have all the right color parts? -- Bob (...) (26 years ago, 28-Feb-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Large Technic crane —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) You are quite correct. The crane balances well without a load, using four large wheels and two motors as counterweights. But loaded, and with the load fully extended, the balance tips over. At full extension, it can probably not lift much at (...) (26 years ago, 28-Feb-99, to lugnet.build)

(...) I finally got to see the page . Great work! As I was sorting Some new sets to day I thought about the Balance of the crane .         Re: Large Technic crane —John Morgan
(...) have a "moving" counter weight, having been designed for the weight of the cam and nothing more. The idea of the mobile Counterweight is to be able to move it so you can use the torque(?) provided by the weight in different ways, further out (...) (26 years ago, 6-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Large Technic crane —Fredrik Glöckner
(...) Thanks! As a matter of fact, I'm looking into making an updated version of the white classical racer right now. The new version will be a little bit bigger and have an inline 6 piston engine rather than 4. Otherwise it will basically have the (...) (26 years ago, 7-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)
