I thought they were called humvees. They're a 4 door, but they

OK.  I guess Humvees are the military vehicles and Hummers are civilian.
Since mine doesn't have a mahine gun and I used Hummer photos for reference,
I guess it's still a Hummer (That might make it GM instead of AM General
though, I'm not sure.)  Yah, a Humvee with the sloped back is pretty
recognizable, and my model could easily be converted.  However, I'd need to
know what the top or rear view of the sloped section looks like.

I'm afraid the firebrid had to get scrapped. I tried for an
entire afternoon just to get the scale right, but when I walk
up to my firebird, I can see right over it, so I figured it would
be maybe a brick higher than a minifig.

I don't worry about being to scale with minifigs, just being to scale in all
dimensions.  If you want to make it 8 studs wide, then find a site which
gives the dimensions of the car, and use those ratios to figure out the
other two dimensions in studs.  (Remember that a brick is 6/5 studs tall)

The front grill is only really possible to make in 8 studs wide, and mine
was gonna be 6 studs, and then there's the issues of making a good sloped
back window.

So build it 8 wide.  And don't put any minifigs by it when you photograph
it.  Sloped windows are difficult.  Don't worry about glass, just try to get
the pillars in the right place.  If the window is curved, you may want to
give some hint as to where it goes with a change in color.

After posting this I retried some stuff, and am happily building away. I
have most of the front end built. It's looking to be model team scaled. I am
thinking of trying to make another, more minifig friendly version in a 6
stud wide scale. I'll post pics soon.
