Hrmmm.... this is going to sound dumb because I am almost certain you
mentioned this before.  I would check myself but I don't have Corel 8
installed right now.

Can Corel Draw import DXF files?  I assume that's what you would do if

you wanted to make building instructions given the fact that you've
already made a LDraw to DXF converter.

Yes, of course.
What I do to make a piece is:
1- Convert from Ldraw to DXF
2- Open it at AutoCAD
3- Chose an isometric view
4- Print to a DXB vetor file
5- Import the vector file back in AutoCAD
    (now I have a two-dimension version of a 3D object)
6- Edit and clean it up at AutoCAD
7- Export it again as DXF
8- Import in CorelDRAW
9- Assign colors and do a final clean up

It sounds complex, but is not. I already converted about 300 pieces
this way, and the instructions are much cleaner than that made with
Ldraw. Take a look at:

Although everything is 2D I can use transparency and overlay the pieces.

And since Corel is a vector editor, the whole thing is his res, and
prints
good.
