   Hi all,

Of late I’ve noticed a resurgence in the use of ‘minifig scale’ as a term. Being a mathematically inclined pedant I tend to take issue with this term as minifigs are so deformed it strikes me as impossible to define a single ‘scale’ to them.

Tim,

You are absolutely correct in describing the minifigure as an unrealistic model of a person. If minfigures were real people they would resemble some of the unhealthiest humans with big head and extremely overweight bodies. I think the reemergence of the term has more to do with the explosion of microscale buildings and designs.

I always have trouble deciding what is the true scale when trying to recreate a real building using LEGO. I try to stick with the idea that the height of the minifigure male equals a male six feet tall. Trying to come up with a real scale for the minifigure was so much of a problem that the National Model Railroad Association gave LEGO its own scale designation. Having seen so many of your great creations in true LEGO scale (minifigure), I think you are posting this with the intent of rekindling a healthy debate over the minifigure scale. Now if we can get LEGO, or some customizer to produce our silhouette in minifigure scale.
