  • Yes, I only searched on “Rubik” and not on “Rubic”. That explains why I couldnt’t find anything.
  • The oldest picture I found of my first attempt (4x4x4 studs for every element) is dated August 11, 2002. I just didn’t finish it then because I couldn’t find a solution for the corner-pieces.
  • If you do a search on ‘Google’ or another search-engine you’ll never find my webpage. I’ve tried several times to add an URL for the last six months (both on Google and dmoz.org) but they both seem to refuse to add my webpage to their directories (and I don’t now why).
  • My approach of the Cube was totally different of yours. “Aesthetics” or “design” are very important to me (e.g. all 1x8 tiles of the same colour point in the same direction, that’s why I used two different corner-pieces), you just attach stickers on them.
However this made me realize that I should try to look at it from another point of view and try something totally different. I’ve put my “little grey cells” back to work since your reply and I think I’ll be able to come up with a solution to build the cube smaller (total size of 12x12x12 studs or 4x4x4 for every element) soon. The corner-pieces are already designed, unfortunately my center-piece (which was already very small) needs to be redesigned.
Just check regularly

Maarten

I would have loved to have had a cube that was more aesthetically pleasing like yours is, using LEGO for the colours - unfortunately my collection wouldn't stretch to that, hence the stickers were used to tidy up how it looked. (...) The blocking you see is a result of some of my edge pieces not having tiles on them rather than there not being a circular inside. This results in some pieces being fractionally lower or higher then their neighbour, hence when rotating there (...) (21 years ago, 22-Nov-03, to lugnet.build)
