this is quite cool, bram. i particularly like the use of pink elements and the bubble over the cockpit/driver's seat. it opens up a whole new range of possibilities (flying versions of classic cars). good stuff! ..joseph g (...) thanks, john i've also done that color scheme (i call it space police III) for a couple of my own models just for fun. if you liked the sub-theme color-swapping check out roger rothhaar's page, (URL) got some very cool models (mobile outpost and (...) I didn't know that about POV-ray. The only things I've rendered in it have been floating in space, so I've never tried something hovering over a reflective surface. Is the POV file available for download somewhere? I need a 1024x768 version for my (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.town, lugnet.cad.ray)

(...) Thanks. (...) It's an optical illusion--well, actually, it's probably just a limitation of POV-Ray. AFAIK, reflective surfaces in POV don't actually reflect the light rays that bounce off of them, so no light reaches the bottom of the car, so (...) Very cool! Did you do anything special to the bottom of the car in the ray-trace? In the reflection, it looks almost like you have placed tiles there upside down, but the MPD has plates for the bottom. Or is it an optical illusion? James (...) You are right, getting the angles of turrets is very difficult. The Tiger1 was relatively easy compared to the T34/85. I think this version is around the 6th rendition I attempted and I am still not completely happy with it, but it is close enough (...) (25 years ago, 5-Apr-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)
