Hi Lukas, for this size and weight you definitely need geared joints. Take a look at what Ben and Eric suggested. Read (URL) by Eric. In addition read what (URL) Snead> wrote on Mecha Hub. The thin waist is a design choice and accommodates the flex in the spine by not causing a collision between the upper body and the Technic that connects to the Throw Bot Gear Box.
