  Re: Questions: Building for transportation

(...) Personally I set myself limits. I am currently building a modular train layout. No section is larger than 20x40, which is what I am comfortable with carrying. All of the buildings will come off and hopefully fit in computer paper boxes. All of (...) (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: LEGO Factory sets

(...) Does anyone know the future status of the mini roadplates? Will they be coming someday, perhaps in a company designed set? My belief (perhaps mistaken) was that since they were included with the LDD parts that the real versions were already (...) (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: LEGO Factory sets

(...) Yeah, I was hoping for microscale road plates too. Guess that's going to be the difference between buying a couple of sets 'cos they are new and actually quite cool, and a bunch because I would do that to get loads of such new mini road (...)   Questions: Building for transportation

What are some techniques you use when building a large MOC for display at a show? For instance, with a tall building, do you build it in separable sections and how? For an extensive landscape, do you agonize over how to choose the baseplates so that (...) (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build)

  Re: LEGO Factory sets

(...) I read it (when I ordered) that there would not be any instructions included and that I would have to go online to get them. So, I knew that going in. I agree with Ondrew though.... Whether the general public picks up on that point when they (...) (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: LEGO Factory sets

(...) That’s unfortunate. I’m sure the public will let the company know that they don't approve. Call it a learning experience. ondrew (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

  Re: LEGO Factory sets

(...) There is no instructions included in the 5524-set I just opened. Only a card that shows how to find the instructions online. Martin (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, FTX)

Re: Painting one of my Xlarge base plates

(...) Larry, Perhaps if we knew what you were planning, we might be able to suggest something non-LEGO related to help. If you want something mostly smooth, wouldn't you be better off with just a sheet of plastic styrene? They come in different (...) (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build)

Re: Painting one of my Xlarge base plates

(...) Larry, although I can't help you with the painting part of your question, I can with the smooth baseplate question.... There were many instance of baseplates with smooth areas. The one that comes to mind are the Homemaker sets of 1972-82. Some (...) (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build)

Re: Painting one of my Xlarge base plates

(...) Not that I advise painting, but I'd think the best way to get good coverage without being too thick or heavy-handed would be to use an airbrush, like plastic model builders use to detail stuff. Depending on the tip, they can have a fine or (...) (19 years ago, 7-Aug-05, to lugnet.build, FTX)
