I need to get some advice as to how to paint one of my XL baseplates. What is
the best way? Spray can, dipping, or what? Also dd Lego ever build a baseplate
that was smooth on a good portion of it? I thought I saw one somewhere, but
have never been able to see it again.
Thanks,

Not that I advise painting, but Id think the best way to get good coverage
without being too thick or heavy-handed would be to use an airbrush, like
plastic model builders use to detail stuff. Depending on the tip, they can have
a fine or wide spray path, and put down just enough paint to get the job done
without getting all cake-ey.
Classic Space 32x32 landing pads are mostly smooth, but if you paint over one of
them, Im pretty sure there will be a line of spacers 100 deep waiting at your
door to hurt you.
