  Re: Mechanical Memory for Computing

Very cool design. (...) Question: Why are you calling 4 bits a byte? 4 bits is a nibble, while 8 bits would be a byte. Obviously the design can be extended to 8 bits like you mentioned. They you would have your byte. Michael (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

  Re: Headlight Patterns

Not that it matters, but just for the sake of history... Craigo (Hamilton) explained some of these headlight brick patterns to me over the phone once about 4-5 years ago, and then we spent some time playing with the various patterns as we talked. (...) (...) Nope. Read everyone else's comments and you will see that rather than being dismissive you should have been listening to the first two persons that commented they were having problems getting to everything on your site. (...) I'm on dial up here, and I can't slam the site cuz it doesn't load. I have the newest flash and 98 too. It starts the loading progress bar and then stalls out. I'd love to see it when it gets changed. (21 years ago, 26-Jun-03, to lugnet.build.ancient, lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.castle, lugnet.gaming.brikwars, lugnet.space, lugnet.starwars, FTX)

(...) -snip- While he could have been more tactful, he is right. The pop-up is annoying, and websites that require the user to have the newest software and/or hardware are poorly designed. (...) Good luck on your latest venture! One thing though you missed out on posting it to .market where I think this should belong. I am on a Cable Modem and had no problems at all with your site. If he wants to complain, then he should at least show a little more restraint and tact. (...) Anthony, About the only way you can top this is to produce a stop-action animation of this behemoth moving. I'd love to see it move about.   Re: Headlight Patterns

A few years ago I did a little galaxy mosaic in this style, and it's still sitting on my shelf. I used gray, black, and white bricks, and made a spiral galaxy. I'm not sure if I came up with the technique myself or if I had seen it elsewhere. Eric (...) (21 years ago, 25-Jun-03, to lugnet.build)
