  Piece ID

I got a weird piece in a lot yesterday, one thing which will make it a tad hard to identify is it is broken. It looks like about a 4x4 rectangular tile with two studs on top. It has a brick height round column underneath which has a center tube and (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: piece ID

(...) Yeah, those are classic space windows/panels, found in 6940 Alien Moon Stalker from 1986. I got one! -Tom McD. when replying, today partly spamcaky, with SE winds 10-20 mph... (25 years ago, 7-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Design for drink machine (Was: Re: Anyone tried to build a Coke machine?)

(...) Yeah, I don't think springs would work. Because of the scale involved, simpler is often better. Maybe you could make the dispensing mechanism like some sort of revolving door turned on its side? That was my other idea. (...) Your ASCII art was (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Looking for Instructions (set #480)

  piece ID

Hi- The pieces that I'm unfamiliar with came from a garage sale. They are 4x3 solid sheets in black. There is also one in transparent green. They are not plates nor tiles... but they look like some kind of door or wall... they have a nub in the (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Green Plates?

Thanks guys, you're much too kind. What I do is for the love of the brick. Scott was the first AFOL that I had ever met, since my internet access started exactly one year ago this week (on RTL). A great guy. I strongly believe in the power of the (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jul-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Design for drink machine (Was: Re: Anyone tried to build a Coke machine?)

First off, thanks for the advice, folks! (: I messed around with the Coke machine for a while but couldn't get the mechanical bits to work right. I am debating re-attempting it with a spring mechanism, but I think the springs I have are too long. (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Anyone tried to build a Coke machine?

Tom McDonald wrote in message ... (...) I've been doing the exact same thing over the weekend (train station and coke machine - and various other street furniture). I built my coke machine very simple (no actual dispensing), with red and white 2x2 (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  RE: Legoland semi truck

(...) solicit input from the group and wait for OTHER people to tell us if our MOCs are decent or not :-) This is not a flame, just a polite suggestion about how to share our creativity... Cheers, Ralph Hempel - P.Eng ---...--- A picture is worth a (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Looking for Instructions (set #480)

Hi Rufus, I have some older catalogs that may help. I have an american catalog from 1973 and a couple of british idea books/catalogs from the period when lego didn't put year of release on their material. They mention such sets as basic sets 020 (...)   Re: Green Plates?

Speaking of this, I had the pleasure of meeting Gary, and he is like a walking Lego history book, with the original sets to prove it. I want to be just like him when I grow up! :) (You're a great guy, Gary!) Scott Sanburn (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jul-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: Looking for Instructions (set #480)

(...) hey, is there anyone interested in helping me to complete my listing of crossindexes between european and american sets from the 70's? right know i have gone back to 1976 but have no older catalogs. rufus t. (25 years ago, 2-Jul-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: Anyone tried to build a Coke machine?

(...) Cool! (...) Maybe you can make a mechanism inside that, when it's tilted down to serve the soda, blocks the hole above at the same time. Only when you close or lift it back up does it receive another can. If you lay the cans on their sides, (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jul-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Green Plates?

I don't know about anyone else but when I see a Gary Istok post I feel the urge to grab a cup of tea and a biscut, make myself comfortable and indulge in a bit of nostalga while I read his posts. I would have said make myself comfortable beside the (...) (25 years ago, 2-Jul-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

In lugnet.build, Don Heyse writes: - snip (a bunch of stuff about set 480) - (...) I just checked, it's set 358. Does anybody have instructions for this?   Re: Looking for Instructions (set #480)

(...) I vaguely remember a police station where the placement of the minifig stiffs on the cover was different for the two versions. As far as I can tell the only difference between 480 and the euro version is the catalog pics on the back. (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)
