Thanks guys, you're much too kind.  What I do is for the love of the brick.

Scott was the first AFOL that I had ever met, since my internet access started
exactly one year ago this week (on RTL).  A great guy.

I strongly believe in the power of the pen.  And I am happy that some folks enjoy
my incessant ramblings.  Although I would tend to think that it goes better with a
scone, raspberry preserves, and some clotted Devon cream (3 summers at an Oxford
England college has refined my taste a little).

But seriously folks, my fondest childhood memories started in 1960 at age 6 when I
obtained my first LEGO (20 parts packs and basic set 708) from my grandfather and
uncle. This really had a lasting affect on me, not only because I liked to play,
but also because I strongly believe that LEGO subconsciously improves your IQ.  I
have always felt that LEGO maniacs have, on average, a higher IQ than other
hobbyists.  Paraphrasing a famous British Actress:  "I cannot abide people who
think they are better than everyone else.  It makes it so much harder for those of
us (LEGO folks) who really are" (heh-heh).

I don't know about anyone else but when I see a Gary Istok post I feel the
urge to grab a cup of tea and a biscut, make myself comfortable and indulge
in a bit of nostalga while I read his posts.   I would have said make myself
comfortable beside the fire but we ain't allowed those where I work (yeah, I
access Lugnet while at work).

On the other hand there are a few posters out there that need a few lessons
in netiqutte not to mention getting a certain part of their body well
acquainted with a steel capped boot.  The language used by these people is
at the very least "disappointing" particularly as they see fit to make
mention that RTL has, to put it politely "gone to the dogs".   Not that I'm
trying to be high and mighty but it just seems a tad ironic.

Anyway, time I got off my home built soap box and back to work.

Hello again,
Just wondering which set contains lots and lots of varying sizes of green
plates? I am making Gasgano's Podracer and the green brick service pack • won't
do it alone.

Well I'm gonna go off on a tangent here, and say the most green plates can • be
found in Service Packs 518 (2x4 plates), 519 (2x3 plates), 520 (2x2 • plates), and
521 (1x1 & 1x2 plates) which were available ONLY in the mid 1960's (so • you're not
gonna find these today).

These sets were available in Europe and USA (Samsonite).

But in green they were only available in the USA (and maybe Canada) - go • figure?

518 - (24) 2x4 green plates.
519 - (30) 2x3 green plates.
520 - (40) 2x2 green plates.
521 - (30) 1x2 green plates and (50) 1x1 green plates.

This is not going to help you out Greg, but I've had some EMAIL • conversations
with John DiRienzo today about plates and sets in the 1960s that have them. • So
I've got plates on the brain today.  (Not to be confused with medical
conditions!)

Gawd I wish they would reintroduce the 1960's parts pack extensive • selections
again.
