Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Adrian Drake
In honor of the Moonbase project being voted Cool Site of the Week, I hereby present my first Moonbase module, about 3 weeks in the making. For the traveler who just needs a place to stay for the night, here is the Tycho Brahe Hotel. Find it on the (...) (22 years ago, 23-Sep-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.space) !!

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —John P. Henderson
(...) Sweeet! I am pleasantly amazed by your choice of building it as a round structure. That really would look great as part of any Moonbase skyline, to have such a variety of shape. ...And might I add that you build BIG too. Great job! -Hendo (22 years ago, 23-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Adrian Drake
(...) Corners are for wimps :) Seriously though, building in the round is what I like to do. And of course I build big, that's my style *heh* Glad you enjoyed it. Adrian (22 years ago, 24-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

(...) snip (...) What if ther was no physical elevator? It could be a variable gravity shaft that could be used for cargo or just slightly jumping to one's floor? Just put some ladder rungs or handholds etc. If it were indeed on Earth's moon, you'd (...) (22 years ago, 24-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Adrian Drake
(...) Heh. The technology could be anything you wanted it to be. This elevator probably is a gravity lift type, as there's nowhere in the roof to put the pulleys necessary for a typical elevator cable style. But I think the typically space tourist (...)         Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Gil Shaw
Ho. Lee. Cow. This is huge Adrian. This would just be the bomb placed in the middle of a module community, perhaps with a monorail station adjacent. The details are so rich. Tomorrow I'll take a better look when on DSL, but the tour so far is great. (...) (22 years ago, 24-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Adrian Drake
(...) Having a monorail station next to the hotel would make sense, wouldn't it? I actually envision this being the anchor of a large commercial development, with lots of restaurants and stores and things like that hooked to it. (...) Thanks. (...)         Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Travis Kunce
this could be a lot bigger. and I think that between this and the huge landing pads module. we need to talk about what hieght the second crosswalk/passage/airlocks go at. I think that they shouldn't go every level like the ground clearance. but (...) (22 years ago, 24-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Adrian Drake
(...) My plan was to make it bigger. I might well do that before Brickfest next year anyway. And why shouldn't people go back to ground to jump to the next building? People do that in cities now. I think attempting to add another layer of tunnels (...) (22 years ago, 24-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Tandika Star
(...) I've actually been thinking about this because of the next module I have in mind. On "earth" where the atmosphere is breathable, it makes sense to go "outside" and move to an adjacent building... but when you have to get "suited up" because (...)           Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Adrian Drake
(...) Well, all of the modules are interconnected with pressurized pasageways, so you don't really have to get suited up to switch from building to building. In fact, if we get enough modules to have living, working, and play all represented, (...) (22 years ago, 25-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Frank Filz
(...) Well, in real life cities, there are sky bridges. When I saw your module, I too thought it would be neat to have higher level connecting corridors.          Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Adrian Drake
(...) Thanks George. If anyone wants to donate a few more bricks to the cause, (specifically grey and blue 1xN plates) I could build a few more floors and make it even taller. Now that would be cool :) Adrian (22 years ago, 24-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Alexander Zwagerman
Great hotel, Adrian. Just what I hoped you would build, something huge and inventive! I love the detail you put in it, making the rooms almost exactly the same.         Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —John R. Beck
Astounding. Good use of square pieces to make a round building. I especially like the revolving door to the surface and how the other doors work. Great job on the lobby too. Very impressive. I'm motivated to start my own one now! (22 years ago, 24-Sep-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Adrian Drake

Re: Moonbase MOC: Tycho Brahe Hotel —Lindsay Frederick Braun
(...) Absolutely wonderful. I love the multitiered design--few modules have tackled that yet, and I keep thinking it looks like a huge round bellows of sorts.
