Hello, everyone,
This January 27, 2004, I would like to announce a streamliner dome car design to
complement the official LEGO(R) Santa Fe(R) train set. The design features
fully removable roof sections, a lift out upper deck of sets, spiral stairs up
to the dome, and head-room for minifigures to sit both in the dome and below
it-- no hats nor high hair, please ;-)
I am bringing forward this dome car design under a new brand called Brick Built
Trains.
The instructions for this design are only available through the purchase of a
printed book: You Can Build it! Illustrated Building Steps Using LEGO(R)
Elements: Santa Fe(R) Super CHIEF(R) Dome Car, 16 pages grayscale, item
#101-i, US$10 plus shipping.
I am presenting this dome car design in such an official medium in an effort to
fully complement the quality and potential longevity of the official LEGO Santa
Fe Super Chief train cars 10022, 10025 and the Santa Fe locomotive 10020.
The dome car build requires official LEGO set 10022 plus an additional
57-pieces. Ive made every effort to maximize the re-use of pieces from set
10022 and minimize the required additional pieces to build the dome.
The instruction book is sized to 5x8-inches to fit well inside a carefully
opened official LEGO set 10022 box.
Please visit my fledgling Brick Built Trains
site to see a few more images and find a link to buy the dome car instruction
book.
BrickFest(R) PDX 2004 Attendees
I will be bringing 15 copies of this dome car instruction book to BrickFest PDX
2004.
I will also be bringing 9 special edition custom expansion packs, set 101-p,
containing the required 57 additional parts:
I dont know how popular this item may be-- if it will be at all, for I
understand many of you may already have the required 57-elements in your
collection already. Im pricing this set 101-p at $40 per box, unless there
might be enough interest to warrant entering them in the auction. Ive really
struggled with the price-point on this. The parts were fairly expensive to
collect via multiple BrickLink purchases. (Thank you BrickLink-- for I would
have never sourced these on my own via multiple official LEGO set purchases!)
The set 101-p expansion pack box will also fit inside a carefully opened LEGO
set 10022 box, along with the built dome car model.
Id like to think that Ive put A LOT of effort into finding an attractive box,
designing (somewhat) artistic packaging, and laying out intelligent illustrated
construction steps. Again, my intention for the dome car model design,
instruction book, and expansion pack is that they complement the official LEGO
Santa Fe sets.
Thanks for reading this announcement, and I hope you will enjoy building a dome
car for your LEGO Santa Fe Super Chief.
sincerely,
James Mathis
