Kids need safe places to hang out on the net, and I believe that LUGNET needs
to be hyper-sensitive to this issue if it is going to make such a claim. I
don’t believe open, adult conversations such as some of the ones that occur
on LUGNET are “kid-safe”. Why not admin with an iron fist in the open groups
and lay off on closed ones?

It’s kind of funny, but I think that kid-friendly is an awful term for the
suggestion that John is propsing. Kid-hostile is closer, but a single term for
kid-we-don’t-trust-you-until-you-reach-a-magic-age-even-if-you’re-plenty-mature-to-take-part
would be better. I don’t know, but if my kids found a big wall that they
couldn’t get around (but they could) behind which all the good stuff was
taking place, I think they would not feel all warm and cozy on the “safe” side.
