I agree, we encourage notification. It also helps taking the 'temperature' of
the community - especially from people who choose not to participate in a hot
thread but are irritated by it. This will help us know when to take action and
when not to, by giving us viewpoints other than our own to reference.
I took this 'temperature' with someone last night, and it confirmed to me a
feeling I had about an issue. It was very helpful knowing someone else felt the
same way, and in fact they were going to say something to *me* about it but I
got to him first.
