Colons in URLs (was: Re: Growth)

(...) Okie dokie, I just fixed the page-generating scripts that were using ":" in the URLs. I switched the to commas "," . (Colon ":" still works of course for sdrawkcab compatibility. :-) --Todd (25 years ago, 4-Nov-00, to lugnet.off-topic.geek, lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Selecting top stories

(...) It wouldn't matter -- a zero or "- - -" vote is an "undo" or "null" vote. That is, only "Highlight" and "Spotlight" get counted; submitting "- - -" is like not submitting anything. This prevents things from being marked down super-low. --Todd (25 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Selecting top stories

(...) I think that's a great idea.... in the web interface, add the vote pulldown menu to it, so you can vote with the same "POST" request... for email and NNTP (which currently can't vote, and can't even see the votes), allow either a custom header (...)   Re: Selecting top stories

(...) I've noticed that most messages get very few ratings. But I'm not sure that counting followups can replace ratings, because someone posting a response to a message doesn't indicate that they feel the message is important or newsworthy. (...) (25 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Growth

(...) It appears so. :) Unfortunately not everyone plays along with the standards. (25 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
