Re: line breaks in my messages, why does this happen ?

(...) Doesn't the server do it because you have told it WRAP=HARD. I think I have always had this problem posting URLs from the Web interface even before you did your preview posting change. I post about 95% through the web interface. Here is a (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: line breaks in my messages, why does this happen ?

(...) Dear Todd, A suggestion: How about a url or link box in each message? I am not a programmer and thus I don't know if my proposal is monumental, heresy, impractical, or unnecessary. My suggestion is merely an idea to address the "wrap" problems (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: line breaks in my messages, why does this happen ?

(...) Let me try to explain this differently: in the browser window that I am looking at right now, the edit box for this lugnet message takes up about the left-most 2/3 of the window. The right 1/3 of the window (between the edit area scroll bar (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  About member search

Hi, Todd Can you add a search function to find member by their name? Because we have to read over 100K files to find a member, it is to slow! As you know, not all counties have fast Internet access even if in Japan. Br Zhengrong (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: line breaks in my messages, why does this happen ?

Todd - How much of an inconvenience would it be for you to put in some basic form of link parsing for the part of the news server that accepts posts? Also, would it be too much to ask for some basic tag identifiers to help identify the start and end (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: line breaks in my messages, why does this happen ?

(...) Todd, I have been experiencing the same or similar issues since the big Lugnet overhaul/server switch awhile ago. I seem to be able to post normally much of the time, but I am occasionally getting a "login" screen (read the tos, enter info, (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: line breaks in my messages, why does this happen ?

(...) Because the form says <TEXTAREA NAME="Body" COLS=79 ROWS=20 MAXLENGTH=65000 WRAP=HARD> It's the WRAP=HARD part that asks for the hard line breaks. (...) No, but I think your web browser is. With other browsers, WRAP=HARD only applies at word (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

line breaks in my messages, why does this happen ?

Todd, When I enter a message thru the web interface, then click preview, the raw text (in the edit window) comes back with hard line breaks at the end of each line. Why does this happen ? In case it matters, I'm using MacOS 8.1, Netscape 4.5. This (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Colorized Images (was: Partsref Update)

Ahh, yes - you have discovered that some LDRAW elements have colors hard-coded into them. They therefore do not appear with the color specified, but rather with the colors embedded into the .dat file for them. :-) Cheers ... Geoffrey Hyde (...)   Re: My Stance

(...) G'day Eric, I find it interesting that you call this elitist. In a way I guess I can see your point, but I personally don't see it as a bad thing. When I first got on LUGNET (start of this year) I thought that all people posting to LUGNET had (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) As did I...I think a day or two earlier. I didn't remove all my posts but two or three that were particularly sour. It's interesting how quickly we (humans) can blow up, even when we don't want to. That's probably what I dislike most about (...) (26 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: When is a website "independent" and when is it "part of"?

Interesting discussion. It just raised a parallel issue which gives us a precedent to look at. That precedent is auctions. Todd has made it quite clear that pointing to an auction website in a group which doesn't welcome auction posts is fine when (...) (26 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
