With other browsers, WRAP=HARD only applies at word breaks (i.e. spaces), meaning that really big long words more than 79-80 columns -- like URLs, for example -- shouldn't be broken when you browser sends the text. Actually, screen size doesn't matter much, it's screen resolution (for example 1024x768 or 640x480) that matters. But along those general lines, one possible solution would be to leave out the WRAP=HARD line. Unfortunately, then what happens is that you have to hit Enter (or Return) manaully and if you don't, your text area scrolls. What does Netscape 4.6 or 4.7 or MSIE 5.x on the Mac do? I don't think it's supposed to be breaking URLs onto two lines without your permission. And it's not something the server does. --Todd

I seem to be able to post normally much of the time, but I am occasionally getting a "login" screen (read the tos, enter info, (...) (24 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Todd - How much of an inconvenience would it be for you to put in some basic form of link parsing for the part of the news server that accepts posts? Also, would it be too much to ask for some basic tag identifiers to help identify the start and end (...) (24 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Let me try to explain this differently: in the browser window that I am looking at right now, the edit box for this lugnet message takes up about the left-most 2/3 of the window. The right 1/3 of the window (between the edit area scroll bar (...) (24 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Dear Todd, A suggestion: How about a url or link box in each message? I am not a programmer and thus I don't know if my proposal is monumental, heresy, impractical, or unnecessary. (...) Doesn't the server do it because you have told it WRAP=HARD. I think I have always had this problem posting URLs from the Web interface even before you did your preview posting change. I post about 95% through the web interface. Here is a (...) (24 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
