I've been really busy at work and not able to hang out here as much as I'd
like. But I noticed that there's a new rating system, which seems pretty
cool, except it seems useless to me as an NNTP user. :(
Todd, are you aware of the GroupLens system? It's not in very wide use, but
it's supported by quite a few popular newsreaders (GNUS, slrn, Tin, WinVN).
This isn't exactly like what you're doing with LugNET, but it would be
extremely cool if you would consider making LugNET GroupLens-compatible.

If not, and if there's nothing in the works that I've missed, I'm
considering hacking rating support into slrn. I can rate articles with:
curl http://www.lugnet.com/news/rate.cgi -d \
"RATE%7Elugnet.off-topic.test:1489=70" --cookie /=86Cxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Todd, is there an easy and reliable way to pull down message ratings? I can
parse the HTML, but that's not particularly elegant.

| (...) Not yet, no, but planned for. (...) Yikes, and bandwidth and CPU intensive. The only scripts on the lugnet.com server which are intended to be called from other scripts are... /news/avid.cgi /news/rate.cgi ...those have APIs (others don't). (...)
