I was thinking that there probably wouldn't/shouldn't be a way to reply to a digest
message. If someone wanted to reply to a message they'd have to create a new
message and directed to the appropriate address and cut/paste relevent info from a
segment of the digest message.
You could also limit which groups have digests available. For instance, a large
percent, or at least majority, of messages in the lugnet.market.* groups are not
replied to on the group but rather to the individual's email. The digest would be
a good way to keep track of what new deals are available, auction updates, etc.
These suggestions are obviously narrowing the scope of digests which may or may not
be a good approach depending on your long-term thoughts to use them. But for the
application I described, they may be useful to implement on a short-term, trial
basis.
