Actually, Todd, this might be a way to deal with gatewaying lists. It's not
nearly so transparent, but it kinda sidesteps some of the problematic
issues. Have a lugnet.list.crynwr-robotics, and autopost daily a digest of
messages from that list, and then daily send to the list a digest of
messages posted to the newsgroup here. That's not as magical/clean as making
the list and newsgroup look like two views of the same thing, but evades the
issue of 'who gets to post', as the digest would be posted to the group and
list as a single (imaginary) user.

My understanding is that you are offering the ability to receive messages sent to any lugnet.* group via email. Does it follow that if on any given day there are 32 messages posted to the lugnet.general group, all the group's email subscribers would (...) (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.admin.general)
