(...) Right. But, the other Bad Thing (TM) someone could do is to make their NNRP server also post all messages to a different server. (...) What is happening to sff.net is that (several times, at least) someone set up a slurp-style feed from sff.net of (at least) certain groups to another NNTP server. That server then broadcasts ALL of the groups it carries to the servers it (...) (26 years ago, 22-Oct-98, to lugnet.admin.general)
